Resident. Widespread and generally common throughout
the British Isles as far north as Morayshire.
Montgomeryshire Status
A sighting from Llanymynech Hill in 1929 was not repeated until 2012
when a dead specimen was found at Commins Coch, and then a live moth
was swept from vegetation at Llanfechain.

Habitat
Hedgerows and grassland.
Foodplant
Yarrow and tansy.
Lifestage data
Root feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives and feeds in the roots
and rootstock. Pupates in a cocoon attached to the roots constructed of
